Instructional:
Pre-K
 &
Kindergarten

The Instructional Division is an introductory tee ball league for Pre-K and Kindergarten aged girls.  All girls will hit off a tee to learn the proper mechanics of their swing – continuous tee work is essential and is seen being used by teams all the way through college and beyond.  The goal of this league is to introduce the basic fundamentals of softball, while they have fun with their teammates.  They will learn how to properly throw, field, and hit a 10" softball, as well as proper base running, including our famous relay races around the bases.  Many age appropriate drills will be utilized to teach these skills, but the drills will look more like games to the girls.  There will be practices with other teams and games scattered throughout the season to ensure the girls interact with everyone in this league.  Teams will be randomly assigned, with Pre-K and Kindergarten girls of all skill levels on each team.

Instructional practices and games will be held on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 8, 9, or 10 a.m. at the Keller Elementary School field.

Intermediate:
1st & 2nd Grades

The Intermediate Division is a coach pitch, developmental league for girls in first and second grade.  Here they will begin to put the basic skills of  throwing, hitting, fielding and base running together, and start learning the game.  At the beginning of the season, it is important for coaches to teach and reinforce the fundamentals.  This age level uses 11" softballs.  There will be (2) one and a half hour meetings per week: the season begins with two practices per week, and will move toward one practice/one game as the season progresses.  Practices will include several skill stations set up to continue improving their basic skills.  Teams will be randomly assigned, with first and second grade girls of all skill levels on each team.

Intermediate games will be held on Mondays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 1 p.m..

Minors:
3rd & 4th Grades

The Minors Division is a transitional league for girls in third and fourth grades, combining basic skills the players have learned in Instructional and Intermediates and putting them into real game play.  This is the first year girls will be pitching all season, they use 11" balls, and games are officiated by league trained umpires.  The intent is to continue to develop their skills while ensuring the training they receive is consistent.  FGSA has entered into a partnership with KP town leagues and will compete against teams from Franklin, Norfolk, Plainville, and Wrentham.  Teams will play games 2-3 times per week.  There may be optional skill sessions during the week,  if and when field times are available.   Teams will be randomly assigned, with third and fourth grade girls of all skill levels being on each team.  Standings are kept and the end of the season will feature a single elimination tournament at its conclusion.

Minors games will be held on Mondays at 6 p.m., Wednesdays, at 6 p.m., and Saturdays.

All FGSA Minors teams will play home games at Pisani Fields.
Away games will take place at fields in Norfolk, Wrentham, and Plainville:
Norfolk: Freeman-Kennedy School (Boardman Street)
Wrentham: Gilpatrick (Sweatt Fields)

Juniors:
5th & 6th

The Juniors Division ramps up the competition level to keep pace with the fifth and sixth grade players' abilities.  Fundamentals will still be stressed, but situational play will be introduced in practices as well.  Players will pitch from 40 feet with a 12" ball.  Games will be six innings in length and often finish in under two hours.  Runners can steal second and third bases but stealing home plate is limited to two per inning.  FGSA has entered into a partnership with KP town leagues and will compete against teams from Franklin, Norfolk, Plainville, and Wrentham.  Teams will play games 2-3 times per week.  There may be optional skill sessions during the week, if and when field times are available.  Standings are kept and the season will feature a single elimination tournament at its conclusion.  Teams will be assigned based on skill level to make sure teams are evenly matched.

Juniors games will be held on Tuesdays at 6 p.m., Thursdays at 6 p.m., and Saturdays.
