We know it's the winter but FGSA softball does continue into the summer!

FRANKLIN TORNADOES

The 2008 Tornado summer season was another successful one for our Franklin teams.  Last summer we fielded six teams to the Twin Valley softball league from the U10, U12 and U14 age brackets.
The program is sponsored by the Franklin Girls Softball Association and gives the girls the opportunity to play Fastpitch softball at a competitive travel league level.
The Franklin Tornadoes enter teams in the Twin Valley Softball League.   This league is comprised of teams from surrounding towns in an age range of 10 and under (U10), U12, U14 and U17.   The regular season League games begin in mid June after the recreational season and ends in late July.   Once the teams in the various age brackets are selected after try-outs on May 3, each respective team’s coach may begin practices (generally on Sundays while the recreational season is being played).   It is at the discretion of the coach as to when their practices will be held once the season begins (possibly during the week or weekends) as well as whether his or her team will enter local tournament(s) which are played on weekends.   All games are played during the week (generally two games per week).   Depending on the age bracket, there are playoffs and a championship game the last week of July.
Given the number of League games, play-off games and possible weekend tournament play, it does require a higher level of commitment during the summer.
The cost varies, but will include a registration fee of approximately $55 (which covers insurance, softballs, some equipment, umpires, socks & Tornado visors and the maintenance of the fields) and the cost of the Tornado uniforms.

All coaches are required to fill and mail the following Coaches Application .  Mailing address is on the application form.

Try-outs are scheduled for Sunday, May 3^th at Pisani Fields as follows.  Your age group is determined by your age as of January 1, 2009.

10-U: Registration @ 11:30AM, tryouts @ 12:00-2:00 PM. Players that are age 10 and under on 1/1/09.

12-U: Registration @ 11:30AM, tryouts @ 12:00-2:00 PM. Players that are age 12 and under on 1/1/09.

14-U: Registration @ 2:30PM, tryouts @3:00-5:00 PM. Players that are age 14 and under on 1/1/09.

 

17-U: Registration @ 2:30PM, tryouts @ 3:00-5:00 PM. Players that are age 17 and under on 1/1/09.
