FOURTEEN  YEARS AND STILL GROWING FGSA is entering into its eleventh season as an organization.   We have seen a growth in the program unlike any of the surrounding towns.   We started with 200 girls in 1995 and anticipate over 700 girls this year.   Our Instructional Division alone (K-2) had over 240 girls last year fielding over 20 teams. The type of growth we have experienced doesn t happen by accident.   It takes many people caring enough about your kids to give of their time.   We want to take this opportunity to thank all the board members, coaches, sponsors and parents for all their support over the years. The great thing about growth is that we are sharing something wonderful with large numbers of young girls who will carry this experience with them forever.   We know that most of them are not going to continue to play softball forever, but the benefit they get from working as part of a team is invaluable. However, with this tremendous growth, comes the growing pains.   These include: Fields, Field Maintenance, Coaches (especially Instructional), Board Members and overall operating expenses. We have been picking up more and more of the cost of field maintenance of town and school fields as budget crunches have affected everyone.   Our operating expenses now include such items as rental of portable toilets and fence repair in addition to the uniforms, insurance, equipment, umpires, etc. The board continues to work hard to provide a fun and safe program for your daughters.   Please consider joining us in this great program.
